CAKE SMASH

print2 (1 of 1).jpg

Maybe you are wondering...Danielle, why are cake smashes even a thing?

Well, first of all, it's adorable. Their reactions eating sugary sweets for the first time is priceless! Trust me. Sometimes they don't prefer the icing on their fingers so they run their little feet through the cake instead. Some kids prefer to just dive in or others..prefer to play in it!

Is it messy? Yes. Is it fun? Heck yeah!

Are you thinking that it seems like a lot of work? NO worries-

I've got you covered! I make it as stress-free as possible for parents. I literally do all of the ordering, setting up, and cleaning up! You only have to provide me with a color or theme that you are interested in, and I do all of the rest.

Cake smashes are add-ons to my milestone packages. This means that you will receive a normal portrait session before your cake smash. I typical shoot the portrait session on a solid color seamless paper or a simple setup and then there is a separate setup for the smash. After the cake smash, there is an optional "Play & Splash" where a small adorable white tub is filled with warm water and rubber duckies.

There are three options for my smashes.

Option 1: "Simple & Sweet"

Option 2:  "Balloons Galore"

Option 3: "Signature Smash"

All three options also have an optional "Play & Splash" (no additional charge) at the end of the session.

Commonly Asked Questions:

1.) What is the total price if the cake smash is an additional fee?

"Simple & Sweet": $400 ($300 Milestone Fee + $100 Cake Smash Fee)

"Balloons Galore": $500 ($300 Milestone Fee + $200 Cake Smash Fee)

"Signature Smash": $600 ($300 Milestone Fee + $300 Cake Smash Fee)

2.) Can I bring my own props?

I would prefer if you let me do all of the planning and purchasing. The goal is to take the stress of planning off of you so that I can provide you with an amazing experience as your photographer. I will create an amazing setup with your vision in mind and will be in constant communication as needed. Another factor to keep in mind is that I know how large of a setup I photograph in order for props to photograph well. Most clients aren't aware of what goes into a setup and the sizes of props needed.

3.) What if my baby has allergies?

Not a problem! Let me know what your little one is allergic to, and I will inform my baker.

4.) Can my baby smash a different food other than cake?

Yes, I've had spaghetti and pie smashes in the past! I ask that you bring the food if it is not a cake for liability purposes. This does not change the price of the session.

5.) What if my baby refuses to eat the cake?

This is a great question! Some kiddos find icing to "feel" weird on their hands. Especially little ones who are more sensory-prone. The texture may be a whole new experience for them! I have a few tricks I do during the session to get them interested in the cake (some don't even know if it's a food!). I also provide a wooden spoon that I will introduce if they do not want to use their hands due to possibly being sensitive to the cake/icing texture. Some kiddos just don't want anything to do with the cake..and that's OK! The important thing is we have fun, and enjoy the experience together! It's important to have realistic expectations.

6.) Do we need to bring a change of clothes?

If you are using my clothing from my client closet, no additional clothing is needed!

7.) Is there anything I need to bring?

I recommend bringing a sippy cup of water (or bottle). Kiddos tend to get a little thirsty during the smash. A clean diaper (they will most likely need changed after the smash portion).
